A new chapter for Ebenezer Chapel, Upchurch

We are pleased to confirm that planning permission has been received for the residential conversion of the charming Ebenezer Chapel.

This striking building, identified by the LPA as a non-designated heritage asset, dates back to 1880 and is located on the west side of the parish boundary of Upchurch, neighbouring Lower Halstow. Recent use of the building as a carpenter’s workshop had taken its toll on the fabric and condition of the building and was in need of repair. Hume Planning were instructed to progress the proposed residential conversion as earlier proposals had resulted in a negative position being adopted by the LPA. Though constructive dialogue with LPA officers and with specialist heritage input, a sympathetic conversion scheme will breathe new life into this locally important building – securing its long-term future. We look forward to seeing the finished building.
