The Swale Borough Local Plan (2008) allocated this site for development and specifically an employment use (use Class B1) which can include any of the following uses: offices, research and development of products and processes and light industry.
The site is surrounded by residential properties to the north and west and a nursing home has recently been granted planning permission on land to the east of the site. Hume Planning Consultancy are of the opinion that an employment use in this location is not compatible with the surrounding land uses.
