Residential Family Centre Granted Move To Seafront Location Occupying Buckmaster House

Planning permission has been granted following a planning application submitted by Hume Planning Consultancy for the change of use of the former Buckmaster Memorial Home to a Residential Family Centre at the seafront location along the Western Esplandae in Broadstairs.

Buckmaster House is a large and notable building which was first constructed in 1895 and originally served as a convalescent home for women from London to enjoy the seaside and sea air.

The proposal provides an opportunity to create an additional family centre in Thanet, to be delivery by local organisation Majestic Family Services, which aims to support and assess parents in a residential setting, working alongside Local Authority Social Workers. This approval will enable the delivery of a supportive facility for families struggling with parenting issues within the district, responding to an increasingly recognised need for specialist accommodation, as well as making more efficient use of an underutilised property which is encouraged at all levels of the planning system.
