A NEW COMMUNITY FACILITY FOR IWADE ON THE HORIZON
Swale Borough Council recently approved permission for eight new dwellings within the centre of Iwade following the demolition of the existing village hall.
The Practice previously secured consent for residential redevelopment at the site in 2020 which involved the co-ordination of different technical inputs related to flood risk, drainage and a foul sewer easement in order to make the most of the development potential of the site. The dwellings will be two storey in scale, with a high quality design sympathetic to the village. Following the expiry of the original permission, Hume Planning applied to Swale Borough Council to effectively renew the consent which follows the original parameters with the positive addition of now achieving biodiversity net gain at the site.
The Parish Council are looking to move to a new larger, purpose-built community hall that has been approved for the village under the Land East of Iwade strategic allocation and the relocation from the old site to the new site will take place when the new facility is made available. The redevelopment of the existing site will therefore deliver eight new homes within the heart of the village in the future and moves the relocation of the parish hall to a new purpose built premises a step closer.
