ALLOCATED SITE IN SANDWICH CROSSES THE FINISH LINE
The development of an allocated site in Sandwich has taken an important step forward following Dover District Councillors resolving to grant outline planning permission at last month’s planning committee
The site, known as Stone Cross, comprises a 3.43 area of land which adjoins Sandwich Technology School. The application proposes up to 45 new homes, including a blend of market and affordable properties aimed at meeting local housing needs. In addition to residential development, the plans include a 66-bed care home, helping to expand care provision in the district.
As part of the allocation, a 0.8 hectare parcel of land will be transferred to the adjoining Sandwich Technology School for use as a sport pitch, which will enable the expansion of the school on its existing site.
Councillors welcomed the scheme’s potential to deliver significant community benefits, including new housing, specialist care accommodation, and meaningful investment in local education facilities. The Stone Cross development is expected to contribute positively to Sandwich’s evolving landscape while respecting the area’s character and needs.
