Spring Update
Padel Tennis Expansion Plans Progressing at Westwood Cross
Following achieving planning permission for Thanet’s first padel tennis facility last year, Hume Planning has now secured a further permission for the expansion of a padel tennis facility at Westwood Cross, Thanet. The consent allows for the development of six new padel courts, alongside enhanced clubhouse facilities, which serves to establish the site’s emerging role as a key leisure and sporting destination in the area. This outcome represents another successful project delivered by our team, enabling sustainable leisure development and helping clients bring forward high-quality facilities that meet local needs. REWD Padel is scheduled to open in late Spring 2026.
Unlocking Infill Plot Development Potential
Hume Planning Consultancy have supported the securing of planning permission for the erection of two family sized dwellings along Minster Road, Westgate-On-Sea. The site adjoins the strategic housing allocation for up to 2,000 dwellings, whereby it was accepted by the LPA that the proposal represented a logical infill between the existing road frontage properties and the strategic allocation for future housing development adjacent.
The application was recommended for approval at Planning Committee and was unanimously supported by Council Members following the Officer’s presentation and committee speech given by Hume Planning Consultancy to support the application on behalf of our client. We wish our client all the best with the next stages of the construction stage which will deliver two, high quality residential dwellings within Westgate-On-Sea.
Padel 'Swings' into Tonbridge and Malling
On behalf of Kent-based padel operator Square One Padel, Hume Planning Consultancy has recently secured permission for the change of use of a former warehouse building to a new padel facility with accompanying facilities including a gym and cafe at Larkfield Mill in Tonbridge and Malling Borough. This padel facility will be the first of its kind in the area and will serve the Medway Gap area as well as nearby Maidstone town. Hume Planning Consultancy is pleased to be able support sporting development and the continued growth of a local business.
Uplift in Care Provision at Martello Manor, Hythe
We are delighted to have secured planning permission under delegated powers for the expansion of the newly constructed Martello Manor Care Home in Hythe, Kent. The approval allows for four additional bed spaces, increasing the care home’s capacity to a total of 70 bedrooms, helping to meet local care needs while making efficient use of the existing site. The permission was achieved following a clear and pragmatic planning strategy and ongoing engagement with the local planning authority. We wish our clients the best of luck for the upcoming opening of the facility this Summer.
