Seas the Day: Shepherd’s Huts Get Green Light for Bay-View Holiday Stays

Hume Planning Consultancy are pleased to have secured planning permission for the erection of four shepherd’s huts for use as tourist accommodation which are situated overlooking the popular beach destination of Joss Bay in Broadstairs.

The planning case centred on the justification of the proposal within the safeguarded Green Wedge, a historic policy which strongly restricts new development. We successfully demonstrated that the proposals supported agricultural diversification of the wider farm holding and would deliver unique overnight accommodation to serve Thanet’s tourist economy whilst reflecting the countryside appearance of the area.

The application was granted following a successful Planning Committee where Councillors resolved to support the case officer’s recommendation for approval.

The shepherd’s huts are now in place and will soon be ready to start welcoming guests ahead of the busy summer season.
